There are well over 35000 orchid species already discovered with unknow numbers yet to be discovered deep in jungles, on vast plains and where ever it's remote. A great many of the species are of little or no interest to the general grower or even most specialists as their flowers are often not that impressive!

Thankfully there are enough orchid species which do have flowers of merit, here we offer a comprehensive list of some of the world's most beautiful and fascinating species. Most of the plants listed require minimal effort other than heat, light and water in the right combination.
